Don Lamont has been a full time professional angler for 28 years.
Don hosted and produced the award winning “The Complete Angler” television series for fifteen years. Since retiring from television four years ago Don has been involved with a number of projects, including the formation of the Fisheries Enhancement Fund. He is currently working for Fish Futures as the Provincial Youth Angling Coordinator.
Don has received several awards for his commitment to public education and the future of recreational fishing in Canada.Those include a 2000 Canadian Recreational Fisheries Award for his work with Manitoba’s Urban Angling Partnership. Don has chaired the Fish Winnipeg event since its inception eleven years ago. This one day event has raised close to $250,000 to take Youth at Risk fishing.
In 2003 he won a Manitoba Tourism Award for his promotion of Manitoba and western Canada. In 2004 he was a finalist at the 2004 Tourism Industry Association of Canada National Award for Tourism Excellence, presented by The Globe and Mail.Don has been a regular fishing columnist in the Winnipeg Free Press since 1992 and has been published in outdoor magazines around the globe.
Don has conducted hundreds of seminars over the years to schools, clubs and various organizations across western Canada. He is married, lives in Winnipeg and has two children that share his passion for the outdoors |
